Scientific Method

Today, the students drew upon their understanding of magnetism to do their first full fledged science experiment, complete with data table! They worked with 5 different types of magnets last week, so decided to do an experiment to find out which one was the strongest. We didn’t have very many paper clips available, so we used BBs. We picked up as many BBs as we could using just the edge of each magnet, counted the BBs and recorded the results in a data table. Students reasoned that the bigger the number, the stronger the magnet. The pink and blue magnet was the strongest.
